Merauke Oud does not try to endear itself at first sniff. It first opens a dark door.
On initial contact, rain-soaked earth, damp tree bark, and a faint wisp of wood smoke emerge. Dark leather circulates around this structure. The opening is deep, cool, and close to the earth; it stands quite far from the world of sweet and fruity ouds we know.
After a short wait, unexpected details emerge from the darkness. A green breeze reminiscent of cool medicinal herbs and menthol; followed by roasted coffee beans, dusty cocoa, tobacco, and a very slight warmth of vanilla… None of them take over the main character. At the heart of the scent is always the strong Merauke wood, deepened with resin.
As it dries, the wet earth sensation of the first few minutes recedes. It gives way to an intense wood and resin scent, reminiscent of Merauke chips gently smoldering at a low temperature. Not smoke, but the tree itself rising from within the smoke remains.
The magic of a good Merauke lies precisely in these contrasts: wet earth with dry smoke, cool greenery with blackish resin, bitter cocoa with an imperceptible sweetness… It does not have a structure that can be deciphered with a single sniff. With each use, a small, previously unnoticed detail is revealed.

How should I apply this oud?
Apply a single drop to pulse points — wrist, neck, behind the ears. Concentrated oils bloom over minutes, so wear sparingly.
How long does it last?
Pure oud oil is exceptionally long-lasting; expect 10–12 hours on skin and considerably longer on fabric.
